California has begun work to improve Highway 152, a notorious road linking Silicon Valley with Interstate 5.

The construction work may be just the beginning of several projects designed to get truckers off the windy, two-lane road, reports The San Jose Mercury News.
Among the changes planned, the newspaper reports, are:
  • A flyover ramp at the 152-156 intersection
  • Adding truck passing lanes and turning lanes to 152 east of Gilroy
  • Widening Highway 25 to four lanes, making it more friendly to big rigs as an alternative to 152
  • Improving ramps at 152 and 101
  • Widening 152 east of Gilroy to Millers Slough
  • Adding traffic lights at some intersections on 152.
