Leaders of American Trucking Associations and the Truckload Carriers Association have come to terms on an affiliation agreement.

ATA’s publication Transport Topics reports that the agreement allows each organization to keep separate memberships and dues while pursuing joint marketing and lobbying activities.
TCA broke off relations with ATA in January 2001 after rejecting a mandate that would have forced motor carriers to join ATA and at least one state trucking association as a pre-condition to TCA membership. The new agreement contains no such provision.
By bringing TCA back into the fold, ATA officials are hopeful it will be easier to persuade TCA members and others to join the national federation.
