The American Trucking Associations is seeking permission to file a friend of the court brief supporting the Department of Transportation in a lawsuit challenging the DOT’s final Mexican border crossing rules.

The California Trucking Association, Public Citizen, Teamsters, Local 70, the California Labor Federation, and the Environmental Law Foundation jointly filed a lawsuit alleging that the DOT failed to comply with environmental assessment and impact requirements in the Clean Air Act and the National Environmental Policy Act and should not be allowed to move forward with implementing the trucking provisions of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
The ATA brief argues that the environmental circumstances in the border zone and elsewhere will benefit from implementation of the rules and lifting of the moratorium and that the Department's actions complied with the environmental statutes.
