A portion of northbound I-75 south of Detroit has been closed until November.

The closure is from Goddard Road in Southgate to the Rouge River Bridge in Detroit. Crews will rehabilitate 20 bridges while rebuilding more than 6 miles of pavement. The closure will expedite the project.
One lane of southbound I-75 will be dedicated for northbound commercial vehicles heading toward the Ambassador Bridge. As a result, southbound I-75 will be reduced to two lanes.
"2002 will be the most challenging for motorists of the two years that it will take to complete this project," said Metro Region Engineer Ernie Savas. "Next year, there won't be a detour when we close the southbound lanes. We'll just shift traffic over to the new northbound lanes."
