Expect detours, congestion and delays as three ramps close for construction at the interchange of I-55 and the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) in the Chicago area.

On the evening of Saturday, June 22, the southbound I-55 ramp to northbound I-294 will re-open to traffic. That same night, the two ramps from southbound I-294 to northbound I-55 and to Joliet Road will close.
By the morning of June 25, the ramp from northbound I-55 to northbound I-294 will also be shut down. All three ramps will remain closed until the end of the project on October 31. Detours will be posted.
Significant congestion and delays are expected. The Illinois DOT encourages travelers to plan ahead and to use alternate routes if possible.
Overall, the $12.7 million project will replace and widen two bridges and reconstruct and realign five ramps.
