Firestone is sponsoring 2-minute radio features about trucking history on the Midnight Trucking Radio Network.

The radio features focus on events, people, technologies and companies that have shaped the history of the trucking industry. Recent topics covered include the history of America’s highway names, Dwight D. Eisenhower’s role in the interstate system, the rise and fall of cabover tractors, and the role of tires in the development of trucking.
The features tie in with Firestone’s marketing campaign, which commemorates the companies history by reintroducing the “Ship by Truck” concept created by founder Harvey Firestone in 1918.
“Firestone has always been a part of the trucking industry, right from the very beginning,” says Don Darden, communications manager for commercial tire marketing for Firestone. “Now that both trucking and Firestone have completed over a century of history, we wanted to remind truckers of how proud they should be of the progress their industry has made.”
Each two-minute broadcast is introduced by Eric Harley and Joe Kelley, the hosts of the Midnight Trucking Radio Network, and is broadcast between midnight and 5 a.m. Central Time. Recordings of the broadcasts are also available via streaming audio on Firestone’s web site, www.trucktires.com.
