US 1 Industries, Gary, Ind., has expanded the intermodal segment of its business with the addition of a new subsidiary, Harbor Bridge Intermodal.

Harbor Bridge has entered into long term contracts with Whelan and Associates of Chicago and Bruin Transport Services of Bell, Calif., to operate and expand its intermodal drayage operations.
John Whelan, with more than 10 years intermodal drayage experience, has been named president of Harbor Bridge Intermodal. The company is operating terminals in Chicago, Louisville, Ky., Columbus, Ohio, and Bell, Calif. The new subsidiary is expected to generate more than $10 million in annual revenue. With the addition of Harbor Bridge, US 1 Industries' revenues derived from intermodal drayage are expected to exceed $60 million in 2002.
US 1, through its subsidiaries, operates primarily as a non-asset based service provider to independent businesses operating in the trucking and logistics industries. It offers financial resources, risk management services, insurance and information technology to small independent business owners.
