UPS and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters will meet in Chicago this week in an attempt to complete negotiations on the supplemental agreements that govern regional Teamster locals.

Completing the supplemental negotiations will be a significant step forward and will allow UPS and the Teamsters to focus on completing the National Master Agreement, according to UPS.
“In Chicago, the Teamsters hope to wrap up work on the more than three-dozen supplemental agreements. Then attention can focus on the national agreement,” said Bill Lichtenwald, Director of the Teamsters Parcel and Small Package Division.
The current agreement between UPS and the Teamsters runs through July 31, 2002, and covers 230,000 of the 340,000 UPS employees in the U.S.
The negotiations kicked off Jan. 30, 2002, which represented an earlier start than ever before. UPS and the IBT met again in February, March and April. These negotiating sessions included a review and explanation of non-economic proposals. Economic proposals dealing with wages, benefits and health and welfare will be discussed at upcoming sessions.
