Online logistics company Meridian IQ, Overland Park, Kan., a unit of Yellow Corp., announced that Kennametal Inc., the giant industrial tool maker of Latrobe, Pa., has partnered with Meridian IQ for transportation services.

According to the announcement, Meridian IQ has deployed a web-native transportation management system at 74 Kennametal locations in the U.S. Meridian IQ also provides operation-level services from its Overland Park service center.
Meridian IQ was launched with little fanfare in January 2002 and included much of the management team formerly associated with Transportation.com, another Yellow Corp. venture launched with considerable fanfare in March of 2000. At the top of that team was Jim Ritchie, now president and CEO of Meridian IQ.
According to John Norris, vice president of marketing for Meridian IQ, the new company incorporates the services of Transportation.com as well as other corporate units, including Yellow Solutions and Yellow Global.
Norris said Meridian IQ will retain the Transportation.com domain name, which will eventually bring web users to the Meridian IQ site.
