It looks like Kansas will raise the state’s diesel tax by 2 cents per gallon.

The Kansas state Senate approved a transportation bill that would increase the state’s motor fuels tax to 25 cents a gallon on June 1.
An amendment rejected by the senate would have increased heavy truck registration by 17 percent, up to $200 for some trucks; the bill as approved calls for a $2 to $10 increase.
The bill was sent back to the House without a measure addressing a sales tax in one county. The Senate stripped the bill of the county language, making it a vehicle for transportation funding, according to published reports.
The bill would raise an estimated $434 million during the next seven fiscal years for the state Department of Transportation.
