So how does it feel to be a hot market? That’s the question Technology Editor John Bendel asks of RoadStar readers in the June issue.

One high-tech company after another is rolling out products for the individual trucker and small fleet. They all say drivers and small fleets are the most promising market segment.
Where did the big fleet market go? Maybe they already have all the tech stuff they need (that’s called market saturation). Or maybe they’re not buying much of anything at all (that’s called recession).
Whatever the case, the little guy is benefiting. Companies are taking their proven high-end products, turning off some features and offering them for a lower price.
As an example, Bendel writes about a new trucking management package called DispatchSelect from Prophesy Transportation Software, designed for fleets of 2-15 trucks. “We have the trucking industry’s most comprehensive and recognized product line, but it’s never been targeted and or/priced to accommodate the budgets of a small for-hire carrier,” William Ashburn, Prophesy vice president, told Bendel.
Based on Prophesy Dispatch & Accounting, the re-bundled DispatchSelect includes dispatch, freight rating, driver settlements, freight billing, driver check calls, driver advances, asset tracking, commercial mileage and routing, fuel-tax reporting, integrated management reporting, vehicle maintenance and basic brokerage functionality.
