"Technical Control for Increased Productivity" is the theme for the Summer Meeting of the Technology and Maintenance Council, to be held June 24-27 at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, Tucson, Ariz.

Technical sessions will include: "Data Event Recorders: What They Could Mean to Your Company;" and "Ensuring Security: Personnel, Facilities, Equipment and Cargo." Management expert Larry Johnson will lead a technical session "Destroy the Status Quo and Recreate the Future."
Minitechnical sessions will include: S.1 - How to Achieve Crystal-Clear Clarity Cab Communications; S.2 TMC's Introduces Updated Wheels and Rim Recommendations; S.3 Benchmarking the 2002 Engines; S.4 Are We Designing Class 8 Cabs for Today's Drivers; S.5 Cost Per Mile - Not >From My Budget; S.6 Maintenance Procedures for Front-End Components; S.7 Put Your Best Floor Forward; S.12 How Will DOT's Intelligent Vehicle Initiative Impact Your Fleet; and S.14 The Coolants Are Coming.
Tuesday's Industry Luncheon will feature presentations by Lynn Gorman, vice president of Fedex Express, and Larry Strawhorn, American Trucking Associations vice president of engineering. Both men retire this year from their trucking industry careers - and more than 30 years each as members of TMC. They will each talk about the changes they have seen on their watch and the promise they see for trucking's future.
