Construction should start early next year on Texas 130, the proposed toll road that will offer a 90-mile bypass east of Interstate 35 near Austin.

The construction contract for the project was awarded Monday, the largest highway construction contract in state history.
Texas 130 as currently envisioned will run from Georgetown to Seguin, but eventually could stretch from the Dallas-Fort Worth area to south of San Antonio.
Work will begin on the Williamson and Travis County portions first, according to the Austin American Statesman, from just north of Georgetown to just south of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The road is predicted to be ready about seven years after construction begins.
