Sirius Satellite Radio will be inducted into the Space Foundation's Space Technology Hall of Fame on April 11.
Sirius to Be Inducted Into Space Technology Hall of Fame

The Space Foundation, which each year honors innovators who transform technology originally developed for space use into commercial products, recognized Sirius for its satellite radio service.
"We're thrilled the Space Foundation recognizes the full potential of satellite radio as a viable consumer technology and entertainment service," said Joseph P. Clayton, Sirius' president and CEO. "Sirius is honored to be associated with the prestigious caliber of inductees in the Space Technology Hall of Fame," including DirecTV, the Debakey heart pump and the Global Positioning System (GPS).
Following the company's service launch that began Feb. 14 in Denver, Houston, Phoenix and Jackson, Sirius will now offer service to 39 states over the next 60 days, with full nationwide distribution available July 1. Sirius offers 60 commercial-free music channels and 40 world-class sports, news and entertainment channels, including one devoted to trucking.
"The recent introduction of satellite radio has demonstrated the continued appeal of space related technology in the United States," said Steve Eisenhart, vice president, public affairs and policy, Space Foundation.
