Oregon has restricted three bridges on Route 20 to legal axle weights and an overall gross weight limit of 105,500 pounds.

This restricts these bridges to single axle weights of 20,000 pounds and tandem axle weights of 34,000 pounds. The affected bridges are the North Fork Malheur River Bridge at mile marker 190.84, Gwynn Crossing Bridge over the Malheur River at mile marker 195.12, and Sperry Bridge over the Malheur River at mile marker 205.58.
The detour uses Route 26 and U.S. 395. It is marked with signs and allows annual heavy haul permit holders to operate without buying an additional permit, even though the detour route is not an annual permit route. Loads over 9 feet wide require a front pilot, and loads over 12 feet wide require both front and rear pilots.
