As early as 2005, Japan's Mitsubishi Motors and Germany's DaimlerChrysler will supply each other with diesel truck engines.

According to published reports, Mitsubish hopes to cut annual development costs by 20 percent. It will develop and product 2.3-liter engines for Daimler's minivan TIN, the same engines it puts in its light truck Canter.
Daimler will supply 500-horsepower engines for heavy trucks.
Mitsubishi will spin off its commercial vehicle division this year into a joint venture with Daimler.
