By May 1, Massachusetts State Police will be cracking down on truck idling time and parking in turnpike rest stops on the Massachusetts Turnpike.

At a recent meeting attended by the Turnpike Authority's new Chairman, Matt Amorello and residents abutting turnpike rest stops, the issues of overflowing parking on ramps to and from the facilities, and idling times exceeding the allowed five minutes were discussed.
As a result of that discussion, the Massachusetts State Police have been ordered to step up enforcement in these areas, reports the state trucking association. By May 1, there will be a significant enforcement plan in place and citations will be issued. The fines range from $100 to $ 500 per offense.
