The Georgia Department of Transportation is starting work this weekend on two construction projects on the northern portion of Interstate 85.

Beginning this Sunday, April 21, work will begin at 7 p.m. to resurface I-85 from State Route 211 (Chateau Elan) Exit 126 in Barrow County to US 441 (Outlet Malls) Exit 149 in Banks and Jackson counties. This work will occur Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., weather permitting. Fridays and Saturdays the work hours are extended from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. Lane closures will be approximately 1 mile long. The completion date for the project is February 28, 2003.
This Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m., work will begin on a project to reconstruct I-85 from Old Peachtree Road (Exit 109) to State Route 20 (Exit 115) in Gwinnett County. This is a weekend only project. This weekend is preliminary work with the project to begin Friday, May 17. The DOT needs 16 weekends of good weather to complete this project. Each weekend crews will be working northbound and southbound in 2 mile sections. The completion date is October 31, 2002.
