Aether Systems announced today that Freymiller Inc., a refrigerated motor carrier based in Oklahoma City, has selected Aether MobileMax2 in a customized installation, mounting the MobileMax2 antennas onto 200 of Freymiller's trailers.

The specialized implementation enables Freymiller to access critical information on the position and status of its trailers, while drivers will continue to have communication capabilities through a keyboard interface inside of the truck. Freymiller, which specializes in hauling temperature-controlled and time-sensitive freight, plans to complete installations across its fleet of 200 trailers during the first half of 2002. Thirty Freymiller tractors dedicated to hauling freight for other carriers will be outfitted with the standard MobileMax2 installation.
The MobileMax2 data terminal transmits data messages and GPS position reports and provides data on vehicle fault codes and driver performance. Aether MobileMax2 uses a dual-mode modem that automatically switches between terrestrial (land-based) and satellite communication pathways.
"In our business, access to information on a customer's freight is more essential than the status of our tractors," said David Freymiller, Freymiller president.
