Regional LTL Con-Way Central Express, Ann Arbor, Mich., will open two new service facilities in the next 30 days.

The facilities are near Springfield, Mo., and Chicago. According to company officials, the new facilities will provide greater service levels to existing customers and allow for increased freight handling in the future.
The Missouri facility, located on a 20-acre site in Marshfield, will continue to provide next-day delivery service to most Midwest markets including Chicago, Indianapolis, and Memphis and Nashville, Tenn., with a greater capacity to handle increased freight volumes. The new 84-door freight assembly center will move 1.5 million pounds of inbound and outbound freight per day, with the ability to handle more as future business volumes grow. The facility is scheduled to open May 4, and replaces a smaller facility in Springfield.
The 90-door Chicago facility replaces an existing terminal in the Chicago area. According to company officials, the new facility is closer to major highways, and will have increased freight handling capacity and improved pick- up and delivery times due to having 46 more dock doors than the previous facility and an additional 17,000 square feet of dock space. The new facility is located on eight acres at 3000 West 36th Street in Chicago and is scheduled to open April 22.
