The 2002 North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria is available from the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.

The Criteria identify violations that render a commercial vehicle (or its driver), a hazard to the public, resulting in an out-of-service order during a roadside inspectoin. The 2002 release comes at a particularly significant time as the jurisdictions are taking an even closer look at vehicles and drivers because of security concerns.
All CVSA commercial vehicle law enforcement agencies in North America use The North American Standard Out-of-Service Criteria. It also is a useful resource for truck and bus safety managers, fleet directors, drivers and shop professionals.
There are two versions:
  • Standard Size, 8.5" by 11" (standard weight paper, corner stapled), $27 (includes shipping and handling)
  • Handbook Size, 5.5" by 8.5" (heavy weight paper, spiral bound), $32 (includes shipping and handling). The handbook version also includes descriptions of the CVSA Levels of Roadside Inspection and an explanation of the CVSA Decal Program.
