Kenworth and Peterbilt are increasing production at truck plants amid signs that the economy and truck buying are on the rebound.

According to published reports, Kenworth is increasing production at its Renton plant will increase from 14 to 16 trucks per day beginning April 1. Its Chillicothe, Ohio, plant will increase from 48 to 52 trucks per day.
Peterbilt said it will increase production by more than 20 percent.
Kenworth General Manager Ed Caudill predicts truck freight volumes will increase by 2 percent to 3 percent this year.
