PeopleNet Communications, Minneapolis, announced that is has completed system installation for its 700th fleet customer.

Arlington Heavy Hauling, based in Jacksonville, Fla., chose PeopleNet's g2x mobile communications system over several satellite tracking and mobile communications competitors.
"The PeopleNet system offers lower up-front and monthly operating costs," said Gary Ayers, company vice president. "I liked the simplicity of the system. Because everything is on the Internet, there's no software to load. More importantly, it's more user-friendly for the dispatcher sitting in front of the computer."
In addition, PeopleNet announced its strongest quarterly performance review in the company's history.
"We're delighted with our fourth quarter results", said PeopleNet CEO John Sarto. "In fact, despite the economic downturn, 2001 proved to be PeopleNet's strongest year ever." Sarto went on to say that of the company's new orders in the fourth quarter, more than 50% upgraded from competitors' older, less sophisticated satellite-tracking technology to PeopleNet.
