Penske Logistics, through its parent Penske Truck Leasing, has signed a software license agreement with XATA Corp. for its new XataNet software.

Penske will equip a portion of its fleet with XataNet software applications that will enable Penske to automate driver logs, monitor state line crossings and calculate fuel tax.
"We reviewed the leading onboard software solutions available and selected XataNet for the platform and network independence, as well as the strong functionality it offers," said Peter E. Smith, senior vice president logistics technology, Penske Logistics.
Penske evaluated the XataNet software applications in a multi-site pilot program.
The XataNet family of Web-based applications is compatible with a variety of hardware and communications platforms and peripheral devices. It offers a wide range of productivity and information solutions for truck lessors and fleet operators.
