Web-based transportation exchange NTE has teamed with Novopoint, another web-based company, to supply logistics services to the consumer packaged goods industry.

Chicago-based Novopoint provides online transaction and logistics services for the food and beverage industries, including suppliers of raw materials, specialty ingredients, packaging equipment and transportation. NTE’s online carrier community and transportation exchange will be integrated into Novopoint’s online services.
"Both organizations are committed to identifying ways in which technology, information and infrastructure can be used to drive costs out of supply chain interactions and streamline related business processes -- from procurement to production to distribution," said NTE President Jim Davidson.
NTE, originally known as National Transportation Exchange, began in 1994 as a market for unused space on truckload carrier trailers. The company later moved operations to the Internet and evolved into an online logistics exchange claiming more than 2,000 member customers. NTE is based in Downers Grove, Ill.
