Trailmobile Trailer LLC has filed for Chapter 11 under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, a move that will allow it to reorganize and refinance.

The news comes only a week and a half after Trailmobile closed its Jonesboro, Ark., plant, putting 240 employees out of work effective Dec. 3. The Jonesboro plant was opened in 1994 in order to process larger fleet orders. The closing leaves the company with its largest facility, in Charleston, Ill., where it builds dry vans, flatbeds and refrigerated vans.
Calls to the company for comment were unreturned, but affiliate Trailmobile Canada Limited issued a press release Thursday announcing the Chapter 11 filing of its U.S. affiliate, Trailmobile Trailer LLC. Trailmobile Trailer Canada Limited in Mississauga, Ontario, is not included in the Chapter 11 filings. Trailmobile Canada Limited, majority owned by Chicago-based Trailmobile Corp., will continue to operate as a separate legal entity from all other affiliated Trailmobile companies.
