The Peace Bridge, which crosses the U.S./Canadian border between Buffalo, N.Y., and Fort Erie, Ont., will implement the E-ZPass electronic toll collection system beginning Jan. 20.

Commercial E-ZPass users will get a 10 percent discount over those who pay cash, compared to a 30-percent discount for automobile users.
In addition, also beginning Jan. 20, commercial vehicles using the Peace Bridge and the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge will pay only when entering Canada. Cars have been paying the one-way tolls for several years. Bridges will also start charging trucks by the number of axles rather than by weight.
Officials say the new, one-way, axle-based truck toll collections will help ease congestion at the border crossing.
