New Mexico’s Motor Vehicle Division is increasing enforcement efforts at trucking companies and at MVD field offices.

According to the Associated Press, the agency plans to double the number of safety audits at trucking companies. Typically the MVD and officers with the state Motor Transportation Division make about 25 trucking company inspections a year. That will increase to at least 50.
In addition, the agency will take a closer look at MVD field offices, visiting them undercover and trying to get a commercial driver’s license using bribes and fake documents.
The MVD also will audit college programs that train and license commercial drivers.
