More than 2,600 Kenworth heavy trucks have been recalled for possible problems with the defrosting system.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 2,670 Kenworth 2001 model year T800s, T600s, C500s and W900s have a mode door in the HVAC system that can become inoperable. This could keep the system from blowing air directly from the HVAC system to the windshield, potentially reducing the driver's visibility.
Dealers will inspect the model door operation and replace the HVAC cab mode housing assembly if necessary. Owner notification was scheduled to begin during October or November 2001. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Kenworth at (425) 828-7356.
