Iowa 80 Truckstop in Walcott, Iowa, will hold its annual blood drive Nov. 27 from 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. as part of a nationwide blood drive by truckstops and travel plazas.

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will locate its bus at the East Entrance to the truckstop. First-time donors will receive an Iowa 80 Truckstop travel mug.
Travel plazas and truckstops participating in The Drive to Save Lives have hosted about 1,000 blood drives and collected nearly 30,000 units of blood for their communities in the last seven years, enough to help 90,000 patients in need. In 2000, truckstops and travel plazas collected more than 4,800 pints.
Twenty percent of a Drive To Save Lives donors are professional truck drivers. Truckstop employees and local community members account for the balance. The Drive to Save Lives has also produced 30 percent first-time donors -- twice the national blood drive average.
