Fontaine Trailer has purchased the assets of Ravens Inc. from RVM Industries.

The deal broadens Fontaine's line to include aluminum platforms, aluminum dump trailers, and steel dump trailers. The sale includes all Ravens assets and facilities. Ravens will keep its name and operate as a division of Fontaine Trailer Co., which is a member of The Marmon Group of companies.
The driving factors behind the decision to sell, said RVM Chairman Jerry Pollock, were the current difficulties being experienced throughout the trailer industry and the uncertainty of the timing of a turnaround. "We are fortunate to have found a buyer who will preserve the Ravens nameplate and carry on the tradition and quality associated with it."
Ravens, based in Akron, Ohio, has been manufacturing premium all-aluminum trailers since 1956. Pollock acquired majority control in 1991 and moved the company from Ravenswood, W.V. to Akron. The company acquired Galbreath's steel dump line in 1999. Ravens has manufacturing plants in Kent, Ohio; Jacksonville, N.C.; and Knox, Ind.
Fontaine Trailer Co.'s corporate offices are located in Haleyville, Ala, with plants in Haleyville, Princeton, Ky., Springville, Ala., and Russellville, Ala.
With the sale of Ravens, RVM Industries' sole remaining subsidiary is Signs and Blanks Inc., a manufacturer of aluminum control and safety signs.
