International Truck Sales of Richmond, Va., was named one of the 50 fastest-growing companies in the state.

According to The Richmond Times-Dispatch, the company was ranked No. 36 on the Fantastic 50 list. It stood out because it was the only vehicle dealership on a list dominated by technology companies, and it received a Virginia Vanguard Award for highest revenues overall among the firms on the list.
In addition, companies on fast-growth lists tend to be relatively new. The dealership has been in the same location for 50 years.
Thomas Thayer, president and CEO, told the paper the ranking is due in part to the high cyclical sales in the trucking industry during the previous three years. He said his company saw growth of 200 percent over that period.
Although truck sales are currently down, he told the paper, other parts of the business are up.
Thayer expects more growth from his new leasing division, Idealease of Richmond, started in April of 2000.
