Mack Trucks and the United Auto Workers reached a tentative agreement on terms of a new Master Contract
that would cover approximately 3,700 UAW members at Mack facilities in four states.
Company officials declined to comment further on the proposal, pending ratification by the local bargaining units.
According to published reports, talks resumed last week on the three-year contract. Union negotiators walked out late last month because Mack parent company Volvo AB announced it would close a Mack plant in Winnsboro, S.C..
The proposed Master Contract covers members of UAW local #677 in Allentown, Macungie, and Middletown, Pa.; #171 and #1247 in Hagerstown, Md.; #2301 in Baltimore; #5841 in Winnsboro, S.C.; and #472 in Atlanta.
