Fortune Brands used Logistics.com to help procures its annual transportation contracts and cut its annual freight costs by more than $900,000.

The deal with Fortune Brands, whose brand names include Jim Beam, Knob Creek, Geyser Peak, Titleist, Cobra, Footjoy, Master locks, Moen, Day-Timer, Kensington and Swingline, is an example of a "cross-company" or collaborative transportation procurement engagement, in which independent companies with independent logistics arms combine efforts to achieve increased efficiency. By consolidating loads, the companies can achieve greater administrative cost savings and take advantage of backhaul opportunities.
Through a joint transportation council, the Fortune Brands companies collaborated and deployed Logistics.com's OptiBid Network to procure ground transportation to their plants and distribution centers across North America. More than 100 transport providers participated in the engagement.
"Leveraging Logistics.com's expert staff and proven technology in the negotiation of our annual transportation contracts provided Fortune Brands' companies with considerable savings while giving us greater control over our transportation network," said Lori Youngberg, coordinator of the Fortune Brands transportation council.
