International Lays Off 400

International Truck and Engine Corp. is laying off 400 more people at a plant in Springfield, Ohio.

The layoffs, which will take effect Nov. 19, were prompted by nearly 30-percent drop in the sales of medium-duty trucks this year, according to the Associated Press. The Springfield plant produces medium-duty trucks and school buses.
The company also will idle one assembly line at the plant for a week beginning Nov. 5.
