Logistics professionals, transportation managers and others who procure and manage transportation services now can get a free guide explaining online transportation services.

NTE has published the new educational resource to assist professionals interested in improving their logistics operations with Internet-based solutions. Called the "NTE e-Transportation Guide," the 16-page publication offers simple explanations, firsthand experiences and practical advice on how to use and benefit from electronic services offered by NTE and others.
"There is widespread interest to seek more efficient ways to move freight, to shake-up the 'business as usual' approach, but questions still exist about how e-commerce really can help," explained John Martin, senior vice president of sales, marketing and business development for NTE, which has been providing e-transportation services since 1995.
"The guide cuts through the buzzwords and misconceptions of online services. It is based on our experience serving customers and is packaged so even technologically averse professionals can walk away with a clearer understanding of how online services can improve their operations."
The guide includes articles on:
  • Myths and realities of e-marketplaces.
  • Firsthand experiences and recommendations by three companies actively using e-transportation services.
  • Steps to building a successful e-commerce plan.
  • Descriptions of the various e-transportation options, such as private trading communities, exchanges, bulletin boards.
  • How to integrate an e-transportation solution into your existing systems.
  • Ways to build support for online services from others in your organization.
