Brenner Tank, a longtime Wisconsin-based manufacturer of stainless steel tanker trailers, has been sold to an investment company.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Brenner's owners, three brothers, are all in their mid to late 70s and wanted to retire. Brenner claims to be the largest maker of stainless steel transportation tanks in North America. The company has been hurt by the recent downturn in the economy and the trucking industry.
The buyer is Peterson Industries of Sturgeon Bay, Wis. It is owned by Peterson Builders, which for most of its 70-year history produced military vessels. Now it invests in real estate and acquisitions of other Wisconsin companies.
