There’s a move to reinstate split speed limits in the Keystone state.

The Owner Operator Independent Drivers Assn. reports Pennsylvania lawmaker Ron Marsico will propose later this fall to drop truck speeds for most commercial vehicles to 55 mph while leaving car speeds at 65. Marsico serves on the House Transportation Committee.
The last time Pennsylvania had split speed limits was in 1973.
The association is urging its members to contact lawmakers, urging defeat of the proposal. OOIDA is on record as being against split speed limits, pointing to studies that have shown different car and truck speed limits increase the likelihood of traffic accidents.
