Grumman Olson and Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. are currently in production of intermediate delivery vehicles for the United States Postal Service.

The vehicles are being produced at Grumman Olson's Montgomery, Pa., plant. The total number of units to be delivered in 2001 will be 1,190, with sales of $41 million. Under terms of the agreement, the two companies will manufacture up to 3,390 units.
Grumman Olson's engineering team created a customized walk-in body to suit the postal service's needs. The all-aluminum body includes a redesigned driver's cockpit, with the Smart Vent system delivering fresh air to the driver on demand and adaptable shelving to optimize space.
Freightliner's chassis features a single rear wheel axle design, which maximizes cargo volume while maintaining payload capacity.
