Werner Enterprises, Omaha, Neb. will hold a grand opening ceremony for its new training center Aug. 16 at the company's headquarters.

The 18,240 square foot center will prepare more than 7,500 drivers for the road using state-of-the-art simulation technology. The centerpiece of the new facility is Lockheed Martin Information Systems' Millennium Driver Trainer, a high fidelity, motion-based simulation system. It will enable Werner Enterprises to effectively train drivers without incurring the high costs associated with vehicle maintenance, wear-and-tear, and fuel.
Werner says it is the first trucking industry business to employ simulation-based training.
