A Mississippi company, its owner and two employees have been indicted on nine counts of violating federal water pollution and hazardous waste regulations.

According to the Associated Press, the charges were made public this week against Truck, Trailer and Equipment Inc. of Pearl, Miss., owner/president James W. Fielder, his son and company manager Edgar Allen Fielder, and employee Carlos A. Lindsey.
They are accused of dumping hazardous wastes such as used solvents into a wetland and the Pearl River near the truck repair and parts company. Even after they were warned about the dumping, the indictment alleges, the Fielders ordered Lindsey to dump the chemicals into a wooded area.
If convicted, each individual could face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. The company could be fined up to $500,000 or a fine based on twice what the company saved by breaking the law, whichever is higher.
