North Carolina's BB&T Insurance Services has acquired trucking industry insurance specialist Lofton & Co. of Savannah, Ga.
This is the seventh acquisition of the year for BB&T, according to The American Banker.
BB&T officials note that many trucking companies are based in states where BB&T has operations, including North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia.
Dennis O. Lofton, president and CEO of Lofton & Co., said the deal would let his 12-employee agency continue to focus on its specialty of providing insurance for small-business trucking companies, but on a wider stage.
