The Campo Indian Reservation in southern California has opened the new Golden Acorn Casino, with a truckstop scheduled to open late next month.

According to published reports, the 33-acre complex will feature a truckstop, gas station and convenience store. There will be parking for 96 tractor-trailers, as well as shower, laundry and computer facilities for truckers. Booths in the restaurant have modem plug-ins for truckers with laptop computers to access the Internet. A year from now, a 100-room hotel will be added.
The casino, which opened earlier this month, has 750 slot machines, 12 blackjack tables and a 220-seat restaurant. The slots are nickel, quarter or dollar machines, and the blackjack tables will take $2 bets. Developers say it's geared more for the average person, not for the high-roller.
