Full-service contract logistics provider Redwood Systems, a subsidiary of Consolidated Freightways, has opened a major distribution and inventory management center near Mexico City.

Located just north of Mexico City on Highway 57 ("NAFTA Highway"), the primary import-export corridor between the U.S. and Mexico, the new 470,000-square-foot logistics facility gives Redwood Systems nearly 1 million square feet of space in Mexico. This makes Redwood one of the largest third party logistics providers in the country. Redwood's other facilities in Mexico are located in Guadalajara, Monterrey and Chihuahua.
Sony Corp. will occupy nearly half of Redwood's new Mexico City facility. Sony Electronicos de Mexico and Redwood Systems recently signed a long-term agreement calling for Redwood Systems to manage distribution for Sony-brand electronics products to high-volume retailer customers in virtually every major market throughout Mexico.
The new high-security complex, with closed-circuit video and card access requirements, has 53 dock doors and parking space for 120 trailers. Inside, Redwood provides value-added services, including packaging, kitting, inbound raw materials delivery, product configuration and assembly assistance, warehouse and transportation technology and data control, along with pick-and-pack, packaging and labeling services. At full capacity, the facility will have 500 employees.
Headquartered in Vancouver, Wash., Redwood Systems offers complete supply- and demand-chain logistics management service for companies with large manufacturing output and consumer product exposure.
