Allied Holdings, Decatur, Ga., has increased its pricing by charging an administrative processing fee for all vehicles transported.

The car hauler will begin charging this fee effective Sept. 6 to approximately 85 percent of its business, and as soon as possible after that to its remaining business.
The administrative processing fee is approximately an 8.5% price increase.
Allied Holdings President and CEO Hugh Sawyer said the company would charge the processing fee "so that we are more fully compensated for our services. Allied performs many underlying services for its clients which are directly related to our core business of transporting vehicles, and this processing fee is designed to compensate us for these services."
Earlier this month, Allied announced it was cutting 15 percent of the workforce at its Georgia headquarters, cutting benefits for remaining workers, and restructuring top management responsibilities as it continues its struggle to return to profitability.
