Speed Limits Higher On Some Tennessee Highways

Some non-Interstate, controlled access highways in Tennessee now have a 70-mph speed limit.

A law amended during the recent session of the state Legislature paved the way for the change. State Department of Transportation engineers conduct studies to determine the impact of higher limits before making changes.
Some of the highways with newly higher speed limits in some counties include state highway 840, U.S. 27 and Paul Barrett Parkway.
