The Peace Bridge between New York and Canada will use the E-ZPass prepaid toll collection system by this winter.

reports that the addition of E-ZPass is one of several initiatives the Peace Bridge Authority plans to take to help ease congestion while plans are made for expansion.
Commercial vehicles will 10% over the U.S. cash rate by using E-ZPass. Instead of tolls calculated by the weight of their vehicle, axle-based tolls will go into effect at the same time as E-ZPass.
The use of tokens will be discontinued after the E-ZPass system has been in place for three months.
Thirty-five Customs Canada officers will be added to the Ontario side of the bridge, while officials work to get more U.S. customs and immigration inspectors assigned to the U.S. side. A fourth truck lane will be added in the U.S. plaza this fall.
