UPS Logistics Group, Baltimore, provider of wireless transportation management technology, has released version 5.0 of its Mobilecast wireless dispatch system.

Mobilecast is a client/server-based wireless system that bundles dispatch, tracking and delivery management software with handheld computers over two-way wireless data networks. Version 5.0 adds tote or container scanning to the mobile computer allowing products to be checked at both loading and delivery.
The application alerts incorrectly scanned items or items that may have not been scanned. Delivery variances are accounted for by indicating over, short or damaged quantities with specific reason codes.
To assist new or substitute drivers, version 5.0 offers turn-by-turn text directions. GPS allows lost drivers to receive directions from their current position to the next stop on-demand.
UPS Logistics Group offers Mobilecast as a stand-alone product or with technology suites for the food service or beverage industries.
