Penske Logistics of Reading, Pa., has opened a 208,000-square-foot distribution center in Los Indios, Texas, consolidating operations and for Delphi Delco Electronic Systems.

Penske provides dedicated contract carriage and distribution management to Delphi Delco's manufacturing operations in Mexico. The new distribution center consolidates activities previously managed from six locations in Brownsville, Texas; one location in Pharr, Texas; and one location in Reynosa, Mexico. The new facility is close to the free trade bridge near Harlingen, Texas, reducing time associated with border crossings.
Operations will include handling inbound materials from more than 850 global suppliers. Component parts are received and routed to the manufacturing lines at the Delphi Delco plants located in Reynosa and Matamoras, Mexico. Finished goods from Mexico are shipped to the Los Indios distribution center for distribution.
Penske Logistics manages all southbound and northbound border crossings on behalf of Delphi Delco, with an anticipated 30,000 truck crossings annually,
