Truckload software provider TMW Systems of Cleveland, Ohio, has announced that Quality Distribution of Tampa, Fla., has selected TMW Systems' PowerSuite software.
PowerSuite is the Windows client/server version of TMW's enterprise management sytem.
With more than 3,000 tractors, 7,500 trailers and 105 terminals, Quality Distribution is the largest bulk tank hauler in the U.S. and the 26th largest fleet overall. Quality hauls mostly chemicals in the lower 48 states, Canada and Mexico, generating approximately $600 million in revenue annually.
According the TMW announcement, bulk carriers have two specific needs. Traditionally, bulk carriers operate each terminal as a distinct fleet. That means relatively high empty mileage and higher operating costs. According to TMW's announcement, each Quality terminal will have global asset visibility -- the ability to view and match equipment, loads and locations system-wide. As a result, Quality anticipates a one-year return on investment.
Also unique to bulk operations is the need for various types of specialized equipment. Quality expects that dispatchers using PowerSuite's Load Requirements function will filter out resources that don't match a load, customer or location.
TMW also offers TL2000 software for the IBM AS/400 platform.
